definition
Design is basically the creation of a plan for the construction of an object or a system.

The terms "modeling" and "design" are related terms, but are not exactly the same concept. The term "design" refers to the creation of an idea while "modeling" refers to the creation of a simulation of an idea. A "design" is like a marked blueprint of a skateboard, while "modeling" is an actual two dimensional drawing, or three dimensional creation, of a version of the skateboard.

It may be the case that designers are faced with "optimizing constraints" as a design is developed. For example, a new packaging design may need to supply a specific volume for its contents.

Whether working with a two-dimensional blueprint, or a three-dimensional computer rendering, designs all involve planning, reasoning, measurement, creativity and a degree of artistic talent. Design is a blending of skills and knowledge, including mathematics.

A common aspect regarding design and modeling is that they both involve
some degree of mathematics. Let's take a look at some problems
that involve designs, details associated with those designs, and geometry.
